Lead Shot Ban
The timeline for the proposed ban on Lead shot for shooting has been finalised for England, Scotland and Wales.
For ourselves and our customers, the key date is the 1st April 2029. This is when the use and sale of lead shot for shotgun usage will be band.
These changes will come as a big shock to many, but we would suggest starting NOW! This will give you time, to clear of all lead shot and associated components before the ban comes into force.
We will be working as fast as possible, to provide alternative options for those that are wanting to continue using their beloved guns. This includes Old English guns that are 65mm ( 2 1/2" ) and even small bore (28ga and .410).
Steel shot is currently the only abundant replacement for the Lead shot. Other shot variants such as Bismuth, Tin, Copper and Tungsten, are all being evaluated for their price points.
If you have any questions, we are here to discuss what we know and how we can help you move forward.
Please read the new legislation here - The REACH (Amendment) Regulations 2026
The use and sale of lead shot will be band for shooting from 1st April 2029.
